Shotcouture Anniversary Giveaway! (Extended to 20th January)

It came a bit late, but it's here! Shotcouture has completed a year, and it's time for a celebration. It's been a wonderful journey, and could not think of a better way to thank you all. I am not going to reveal all the gifts at once, though. Only the two beautiful Fabindia silk scarves, to begin with. The rest are equally, if not more exciting gifts. Wait and you shall be rewarded. To win one of these goodies, you have to answer a simple question.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT INDIAN FASHION?

There are SIX fabulous gifts to be won. Post your answer in the comments section of the blog-post. My decision on the prizes will be final. The Giveaway is open only to US, Canada, Europe and Asia.

The last date for sending in your comments has been extended to 20 January.

After the final names have been selected, I will send out individual mails informing the winners about their gifts.

EDIT
Alright... revealing the rest of the gifts. Fabindia silver pendants, Ritu Kumar Leather Clutch, and a Ritu Kumar Scraf; all up for grabs. I have received some lovely comments, but there is still time. Spread the word!

Ohhh i LOVE giveaways! Especially when the gifts are so fabulous!

Ok, so what do i love most about Indian fashion?

In a nutshell...it's inspiring. No matter where you go in the world, no matter what international designer you love. At some point the rich colours, luxury fabrics and elegant traditional Indian designs will have been the inspiration for someones collection. Whether it's a high-street brand selling their version of traditional mojri's or Alexander McQueen and his tribute to the Raj. It's the type of fashion that inspires everyone, yet when fused with a western design still retains its Indian identity!

Many years ago I was lucky enough to go to India (New Delhi & Jaipur). I have memories of that trip that I've always carried with me. I was in my early 20s and had grown up in the bubble that is the U.S. and seeing India open my eyes, my heart and my imagination like nothing else I had previously experienced. I have been many places since, but that first encounter with the wonders of this world will stay with me forever. I know this has nothing to do with colors and as I reread it, is sounding too much like a beauty pageant answer. I do love pinks and oranges, and Indian food! I always have Garam Masala in my cuboard!

I love Indian fashion for the bright colours and designs! Western clothing tends to be a little more in the neutral palatte and in solid colours. But Indian fashion seems to stand out in such a way that it makes one feel it's OK to wear bright colours and rich fabrics. When I have worn pieces that are similar in colour or design to the Indian fashions I admire so much, I have walked taller, smiled more and felt like a more beautiful woman. Beautiful clothing is good not only for the body but also for the soul.

Definitely the Colors, omg they are so vibrant, the sari's is that the name. I've also been amazed at 2 other thinks.

firstly think if funny, and amazing how many cultures go into the same textile shop, African or Asian and we come out with totally different outfits, differing with countries & culture.

2ndly I remember one of my indian teachers when i was a kid, she always wore something in, that looked like a half top, i always thought that was brave, regardless of age & media.

ok i have no idea if that made sense, but it does to me!!!

You're so sweet!
I love so many things about Indian fashion (and India in general--I'm dying to visit!). One one the vibrant use of color--and the unique mix of colors. Another is the versatility of many traditional garments--being cut from one cloth and twisted/knotted into different forms. Both of these translate so well into modern street fashion as well.

What I love about Indian fashion is that it’s truly individual, from the often hand-sticthed cottons to the woven silks; the unique embroidery of every region that still says “Indian”; the block prints scarves that sometimes becomes a dupatta or an odhni….
Even if 2 individuals are wearing the black sarees in a Bengali style, it’ll still be totally unique.

Having believed always that I lived in India in a previous life, this is a no-brainer! The colors, the patterns, the mixture of both, the fabulous fabrics...The fact that every part of India has a different garment, a different feel, all gorgeous. Indian fashion is so feminine and confers the wearer such grace. It goes well in the East and in the West. Finally, I think a sari is the sexiest garment a woman can wear!

It is that Indian fashion is always at the forefront of it all. I look to it to see what will be big everywhere else the following year! And it always makes the wearer glamorous. Take her Rocky S dresses away from Bipasha Basu, and she is just another pretty, shapely girl!

What a lovely blog and giveaway!

Indian fashion...is everlasting. Designers have good and bad collections, but no matter how many years pass Indian women still manage to excite and amaze us with the intricate designs and exceptional colour use. Garments are traditional, yet each one seems to have a story behind it, making it unique and utterly irresistible. Go Indian fashion!

indian fashion has Roots and Wings

Glimpses of Roots -the rich fabrics, the soulful prints, the vivid colours, the inticrate embroidery,a nose ring, the toe ring.a kangan, the gheraas

Glimpses of wings-the jeans,the hairdo,the tunic the cuts,the comfort,the evening gowns

we take ...we absorb....we may even copy...but we still have our unique indianness in everything we wear....we always have a unique fusion of roots and wings

What do I love about Indian fashion? That's easy...the are mood enhancers! The richness of fabric, the feel of the textures and the vibrant colours can make you feel luxuriant, sensual and beautiful. Just looking at Indian garments can put you in a better mood! They are so aesthetically appealing they can drape any silhouette and make it look feminine and graceful. And at the end of the day, isn't that what we want?

Hey I just discovered your blog. BTW, I found it while goggling Manish Arora fish fry shoes. I just couldn’t help myself being part of the giveaway. So, what do I love about indian fashion? Well, what is there not to love? lol. Actually, What I really appreciate about Indian fashion is the soul put in it. There is so much effort put in each garment and the incredible history behind each garment. I also love the versatility. From funky tie and dye Rajasthani scarfs to embroidered cashmere kaftans. You can interpret Indian fashion in countless ways to fit your personal style. Even a traditional garment can be reinterpreted in so many ways. Hence, it has been the inspiration for designers like Galliano, Jean Paul Gaultier etc.
P.S-Congrats on the anniversary!

I fell in love with Indian fashion when I was 9 years old. It was right after I saw my first Indian movie. I don't remember the name but I remember the vivid colors and beautiful designs on saris. Indina fashion is a beutiful mix of colors, and designs. Soft and feminine, like a beautiful spring morning.
