Time to look back and celebrate!

This past year has been the most phenomenal and eventful year of my life. And I have grown more as an individual than I did in several years put together. One of my self-enhancing initiatives last year was to learn to live with less. I was a recovering shopaholic and it did nothing at all for my self-esteem. My personal style still lacked a distinct image. I realized that I was trying to live up to others’ image of who I should be. So I gave up on this headless chicken run and set forth to find my own identity. And so started the blog www.lifein2suitcases.com
I did not even know that there were a lot of people following my personal quest. And was pleasantly surprised when Sunday mid-day got in touch with me to write an article on my quest to de-clutter my life and find an emotional and spiritual balance.
So this is what was published.

To read the entire 2 page article, use this link to get to the Sunday epaper. http://epaper2.mid-day.com/epaperhome.aspx?issue=24102010&edd=mumbai
Please scroll down to page 28-29 to read the story.

Been out of action for a while. Will surely catch up with you all now. Thanks for your support and the positive influences I have found in the blogosphere.

Great post! I think most women need to address this issue of over shopping, I remember when I decide to let go I cleaned out my entire closet of stuff designer brand sand all and gave them all to charity, It felt great! It's all nice to read others who are trying to be more spiritually in tune. Thanks for sharing :)

This is awesome! Good for you, I am so with you. For me, this started with a spiritual journey and then the impulse to buy stuff and worry about my appearance started to become less and less important. Pretty amazing (though yes, I still love fashion!). XX!

Oh, you too were unwell last week? Hope you feel better now :>

Congratulations on the article on you! It must have been an amazing feeling. I know I am the type who loves to shop, but my parents are the one with the money so they decide what to buy. I only get new clothes once or twice a year. But I'm kind of happy with this xD

Great post and fantastic article! Congratulations on being published and even more congratulations on finding the path t who you really are. So many of us get lost in the chase to live uo to the standard. Mind you, nobody really knows who set it to be so shallow and so about "now". I have been fighting with the same problem and finally came to the conclusion that what matters is how you feel with yourself, not with your new clothes or shoes or bags. I admire you so much for being strong and fabulous!

I think its incredible how you have overcome these hurdles in your life. Its very inspiring. Many people never face their inner battles until its damaged too much. I am constantly fighting the idea that I need to have more and buy more. Every woman does do some degree:)

I think it's commendable to say the least. It's all doable and I don't believe in the hoard game either. Although I couldn't give up on stuff that I already have, I do take pride in the fact that I'm not one of those who buy things more than necessary, even if I'd love to. Well, agreed that most of it is due to my limited personal funds but even otherwise, I would not like to spend oodles of money/time on two pairs of white shoes. You know what I mean? :) Plus, I also thoroughly use what I buy rather than forgetting it after a while and getting over it already.

However, the road you've chosen, is a really commendable path. I don't even know how to say it better! You deserve every bit of praise!
